Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis

Well while in Flagstaff today, my wife was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She was at the neurologist, when her doctor came out and told her of the diagnoses. I have a lot of information to learn, so I can help her with her battles.

I'm not sure what the future is going to bring but, I married her for better or for worse. I am also her partner in life, so I will see how I can help her, and help take care of myself at the same time.

This picture is when she graduated from the local college N.P.C. Though right now I'm kinda of in shock, so I am ending and posting this now.

The Star Spangled Banner By Francis Scott Key

It has come to my attention, that most people don't know all of the Star Spangled Banner, by Francis Scott Key. So I'm going to post the whole song, so all may know.

In this land, we all should be grateful to live here in the "Land of The Free & the Home of the Brave".

The Star Spangled Banner
By ~ Francis Scott Key 1814

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country should leave us no more! Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Praise God, for allowing us, to live in this land called "The United States of America".

In Honor of Those Who Paid The Ultimate Sacrifice‏

Did you know .........

TAPS

Near the bottom, as you scroll down, are the words. The first stanza frequently comes to mind at sundown...

I never knew....... DID YOU??

If any of you have ever been to a military funeral in which taps was played; this brings out a new meaning of it.

Here is something Every American should know. Until I read this, I didn't know, but I checked it out and it's true:

We in the United States have all heard the haunting song, 'Taps...' It's the song that gives us the lump in our throats and usually tears in our eyes.

But, do you know the story behind the song? If not, I think you will be interested to find out about its humble beginnings.

Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the Civil War, when Union Army Captain Robert Elli was with his men near Harrison's Landing in Virginia . The Confederate Army was on the other side of the narrow strip of land.

During the night, Captain Elli heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field. Not knowing if it was a Union or Confederate soldier, the Captain decided to risk his life and bring the stricken man back for medical attention. Crawling on his stomach through the gunfire, the Captain reached the stricken soldier and began pulling him toward his encampment..

When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead.

The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier. It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out.. Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in the Confederate Army.

The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted.

The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral.

The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate.

But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him only one musician.

The Captain chose a bugler. He asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youth's uniform.

This wish was granted.

The haunting melody, we now know as 'Taps' used at military funerals was born.

The words are:

Day is done.
Gone the sun.
From the lakes
From the hills.
From the sky.
All is well.
Safely rest.
God is nigh.

Fading light.
Dims the sight.
And a star.
Gems the sky.
Gleaming bright.
From afar.
Drawing nigh.
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise.
For our days.
Neath the sun
Neath the stars.
Neath the sky
As we go.
This we know.
God is nigh

I too have felt the chills while listening to 'Taps' but I have never seen all the words to the song until now. I didn't even know there was more than one verse . I also never knew the story behind the song and I didn't know if you had either so I thought I'd pass it along.

I now have an even deeper respect for the song than I did before.

Remember Those Lost and Harmed While Serving Their Country.

Also Remember Those Who Have Served And Returned; and for those presently serving in the Armed Forces.

Thank you uncle Irv, no I didn't know the words.

Courage under fire

Courage under fire

You're a 19 year old kid. You're critically wounded and dying in the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam.

It's November 11, 1967, LZ (landing zone) X-ray.

Your unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the MedEvac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you're not getting out.

Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll never see them again.

As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then....................... over the machine gun noise................. you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter.

You look up to see a Huey coming in. But .................. It doesn't seem real because no MedEvac markings are on it.

Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you. He's not MedEvac so it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.

Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He's coming anyway, for you and your buddies.

And he drops his Huey in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety.

And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!! Until all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm.

He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey.

Medal of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Air Force, died August 20, 2008 at the age of 70, in Boise, Idaho.

May God Bless, and may God Rest His Soul in His Grace.

I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we've sure seen a whole bunch about Michael Jackson and Tiger Woods.

Medal of Honor Winner
Captain Ed Freeman

Shame on some of the American media!! I have to say, to ALL service men/women who are serving in our military, both past, and present. Thank You and Semper Fidelis!!

Here is a short list of those who reported his death; NBC Nightly News, Sunday Gazette-Mail, Idaho Press-Tribune, Fox News, Mountain Home News, KBCI-TV News, CNN, U.S. Army website, Anniston Star, Sunday Gazette-Mail, MSNBC, and Associated Press.

Normally, I wouldn't post about a death but, I feel that the service men/women DO need recognition for their deeds of valor.

Why Arizona Drew a Line

Why Arizona Drew a Line

ON Friday, (23 Apr 10) Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona signed a law, SB 1070 that prohibits the harboring of illegal aliens and makes it a state crime for an alien to commit certain federal immigration crimes. It also requires police officers who, in the course of a traffic stop or other law-enforcement action, come to a “reasonable suspicion” that a person is an illegal alien verify the person’s immigration status with the federal government.

Predictably, groups that favor relaxed enforcement of immigration laws, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, insist the law is unconstitutional. Less predictably, President Obama declared it “misguided” and said the Justice Department would take a look.

Presumably, the government lawyers who do so will actually read the law, something its critics don’t seem to have done. The arguments we’ve heard against it either misrepresent its text or are otherwise inaccurate. Below are just a few, of the things people are demonstrating about;

It is unfair to demand that aliens carry their documents with them.
It is true that the Arizona law makes it a misdemeanor for an alien to fail to carry certain documents. “Now, suddenly, if you don’t have your papers ... you’re going to be harassed,” the president said. “That’s not the right way to go.” But since 1940, it has been a federal crime for aliens to fail to keep such registration documents with them. The Arizona law simply adds a state penalty to what was already a federal crime. Moreover, as anyone who has traveled abroad knows, other nations have similar documentation requirements.

“Reasonable suspicion” is a meaningless term that will permit police misconduct.
Over the past four decades, federal courts have issued hundreds of opinions defining those two words. The Arizona law didn’t invent the concept: Precedents list the factors that can contribute to reasonable suspicion; when several are combined, the “totality of circumstances” that results may create reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed.

For example, the Arizona law is most likely to come into play after a traffic stop. A police officer pulls a minivan over for speeding. A dozen passengers are crammed in. None has identification. The highway is a known alien-smuggling corridor. The driver is acting evasively. Those factors combine to create reasonable suspicion that the occupants are not in the country legally.

The law will allow police to engage in racial profiling.
Actually, Section 2 provides that a law enforcement official “may not solely consider race, color or national origin” in making any stops or determining immigration status. In addition, all normal Fourth Amendment protections against profiling will continue to apply. In fact, the Arizona law actually reduces the likelihood of race-based harassment by compelling police officers to contact the federal government as soon as is practicable when they suspect a person is an illegal alien, as opposed to letting them make arrests on their own assessment.

It is unfair to demand that people carry a driver’s license.
Arizona’s law does not require anyone, alien or otherwise, to carry a driver’s license. Rather, it gives any alien with a license a free pass if his immigration status is in doubt. Because Arizona allows only lawful residents to obtain licenses, an officer must presume that someone who produces one is legally in the country.

State governments aren’t allowed to get involved in immigration, which is a federal matter.
While it is true that Washington holds primary authority in immigration, the Supreme Court since 1976 has recognized that states may enact laws to discourage illegal immigration without being pre-empted by federal law. As long as Congress hasn’t expressly forbidden the state law in question, the statute doesn’t conflict with federal law and Congress has not displaced all state laws from the field, it is permitted. That’s why Arizona’s 2007 law making it illegal to knowingly employ unauthorized aliens was sustained by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In sum, the Arizona law hardly creates a police state. It takes a measured, reasonable step to give Arizona police officers another tool when they come into contact with illegal aliens during their normal law enforcement duties.

And it’s very necessary: Arizona is the ground zero of illegal immigration. Phoenix is the hub of human smuggling and the kidnapping capital of America, with more than 240 incidents reported in 2008. It’s no surprise that Arizona’s police associations favored the bill, along with 70 percent of Arizonans.

President Obama and the Beltway crowd feel these problems can be taken care of with “comprehensive immigration reform”, meaning amnesty and a few other new laws. But we already have plenty of federal immigration laws on the books, and the typical illegal alien is guilty of breaking many of them. What we need is for the executive branch to enforce the laws that we already have.

Unfortunately, the Obama administration has scaled back work-site enforcement and otherwise shown it does not consider immigration laws to be a high priority. Is it any wonder the Arizona Legislature, at the front line of the immigration issue, sees things differently?

Now what some of you may not know about me......... I was hit by a drunk driver, here illegally from Mexico who ran a red light. I am for this law, and it's about time something is done.

Obama has said his administration may take legal action on Arizona over the new law. Obama has also called the Arizona law misguided.

Well Arizona has always been a "Maverick" state, and we will not be pushed around anymore by illegal immigration. The Jerk (Obamanation) is in Washington DC, and knows nothing about the problem in any of the southern border states.

It's time to put Equal Justice versus Social Justice puts, Social Justice out to the pasture. Equal justice of the law demands that law-breakers not be rewarded for their illegal activity, that instead they be treated like everyone else.

As for, social justice it dictates that because somehow or another, they're special, whether it's there medical condition, position in life, race, or maybe it's just because they happen to be President Obama's aunt that she gets to stay in the U.S. illegally, even after her request for political asylum was rejected in 2004.

Equal justice says she's got to go home.

Social justice says no, no, no.

What gets me is all these people thinking illegal immigration is okay. I wonder at times if, they know the meaning of illegal. Although the Arizona law has rekindled an intense national debate about what the United States should do about illegal immigration. This country (America) protects the borders of other nations better than it protects our own border.

I think it is time for all American border states pass laws to protect their border. The federal government is going to sit on it's duff, and do nothing but spend money it doesn't have to spend.

If our existing laws were enforced by the Federal Government, the border states wouldn't be having these problems. It's a matter of dereliction of duty, and officials should be held to account. Illegal immigrants are bankrupting many states, and this is on top of the violence, drugs, and placing our families at risk. A voting block is their only EXCUSE, and I don't buy that. They won't admit it, but this is what it's all about.

From what I hear, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Colorado are taking action on a similar bill with some other states considering doing so also. It really has Obama steamed. Because, it's a big road block for his objective of more power for himself.

English Muffins
1 lb. All−purpose or bread flour
1 teas. Salt
1 1/2 Tbl. Dry yeast
1 teas. Sugar
1 cup Warm milk
2 oz. Butter, melted
Sift the flour and salt into a bowl and leave in a warm place. Dissolve
the yeast and sugar in warm (105 F) milk (M−Waved). Let froth,
then mix in the butter. Stir all the liquid into the warm flour and beat
well until smooth and elastic. Cover and proof in a warm place for 50
minutes or until doubled in bulk. Turn onto a well−floured board and
knead, working a little more flour if necessary to make the dough easier
to shape. Round up the dough, roll into a thick sausage shape and (using
the sharpest knife you have) slice into 8 to 10 portions, each about 1 1/2
to 1 3/4 inch thick. Shape each one into a round with straight sides. Put
onto a greased baking sheet. Cover (use greased plastic wrap) and put
in a warm place to proof for 30−40 minutes or until springy to the touch.
Leave room for expansion and be careful not to over−proof, as the muffins
will get flabby and lose their shape. Warm and grease the bakestone
lightly. Lift the muffins carefully onto the bakestone and cook over very
moderate heat for 8−10 minutes until pale gold underneath. Turn and cook
the other side. Wrap in a cloth and keep warm if cooking in batches. To
serve, insert a knife in the side, pull the top and bottom slightly apart,
and insert slivers of butter.

My rant against Obama, and Obamacare!!

I suspect this post will not be popular, with some that read this blog. But I don't care!! I've had Obama rammed down my throat and now I'm speaking out!!

This is my own rant, and has nothing to do with other people out there.

My rant against Obama, and Obamacare!!

But first, a few observations on the President Obama's early days..............

1. Offended the Queen of England, one of our longest allies.

2. Bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia. America has never bowed to ANY other nation.

3. Praised the Marxist Daniel Ortega. More signs of where Obamanation wants to go.....

4. Kissed Hugo Chavez on the cheek.

5. Endorsed the Socialist Evo Morales of Bolivia. And still yet, more signs of his socialist actions.

6. Announced we would meet with Iranians with no pre-conditions.

7. Gave away billions to AIG also without pre-conditions.

8. Expanded the bailouts.

9. Insulted everyone who has ever loved a Special Olympian. For that alone, he should apologized to everyone who has ever loved or helped a Special Olympian.

10. Doubled our national debt, over 1 trillion dollars in 6 months. Look what happened in Argentina, once a very rich country now one of the poorest.

11. Announced a termination of the space defense system the day after the North Koreans launched an ICBM. Bombs away!!

12. Despite the urgings of his own CIA director and the prior 4 CIA directors, released information on intelligence gathering. Sure he isn't endangering himself but of those who gather the information so we know what terrorist are doing.

13. Accepted without public comment the fact that five of his cabinet members cheated on their taxes and two others withdrew after they couldn't take the heat.

14. Appointed a Homeland Security Chief who quickly identified as "dangers to the nation", groups including veterans of the military, and opponents to abortion on demand, and ordered that the word "terrorism" no longer be used but instead referred to such acts as "man made disasters". Huh?? Terrorism is terrorism, yes it's man made, terrorism is just that, to terror those they can.

15. Circled the globe so he could openly apologize for America's greatness. Huh?? Me thinks the dummy has been drinking.

16. Told the Mexican President that the violence in their country was because of us. Where does he get this crap!!

17. Politicized the census by moving it into the White House from its Department of Commerce origins. He spent so we wouldn't have to pay 35 million +or- a few million.

18. Appointed as Attorney General the man who orchestrated the forced removal and expulsion from America to Cuba of a nine-year old whose mother died trying to bring him to a life of freedom in the United States.

19. Salutes as heroes three Navy SEALS who took down three terrorists who threatened one American life and the next day announces members of the Bush administration will likely stand trial for "torturing" a terrorist who had played a part in killing 3000 Americans by pouring water up their nose.

20. Air Force One flies over New York City causing massive anxiety.

21. Sent his National Defense Advisory to Europe to assure Europe that the US will no longer treat Israel in a special manner and they might be on their own with the Muslims.

22. Began the process of nationalizing the Auto Industry and the Insurance industry.

23. Announced that for intents and purposes the Health Insurance Industry will be nationalized and then claims on national TV that his proposed medical plan will not have the government dictate healthcare procedures nor cost additional monies

24. Appointed 32 "Czars" that did not require Congress' approval, are paid by the taxpayers but are under sole control of Obama so he can "rule" these 32 areas rather than govern!! Talk about BREAKING the LAW of AMERICA!! My own opinion is Obama should have been impeached. Imagine the reaction if Bush had done this!!!

After reading Obama's health care plan, this is my opinion of his plan.

Obama's plan is all about turning America into a Communist/Socialist/Fascist country, controlling the people, TYRANNY, removal of RIGHTS, removal of FREEDOMS, and burying everything good this country has ever stood for. It has absolutely nothing to do with right or good for the people. Everything is lies and manipulation of the people into a position where the government can run everything. It's real simple, and it's happening right before our eyes. Getting to this moment and time has meant COUNTLESS CRIMES in a highly organized and efficient manner. The RULE OF LAW AND THE CONSTITUTION means NOTHING but an obstacle to this administration and its criminal gang of conspirators. It's already long past time for long lists of people to be CHARGED WITH SERIOUS CRIMES! Who they are and what office they hold MEANS NOTHING!

Obamanation, or Obamacare and other communist/socialist/fascist schemes being pushed are immoral, illegal, Unconstitutional, budget-busting, and more. You might not believe the MORE yet, but you will if you listen and pay attention. Jobs and healthcare are NOT DESIRED by this administration - rather government takeover, POWER, and an end to RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS. What you are watching is excuses and sloppily orchestrated LIES for another AGENDA that has nothing to do with the good of the people. The OPPOSITE of GOOD FOR THE PEOPLE is the AGENDA. CONTROL OF THE PEOPLE AND TYRANNY OVER THE PEOPLE IS THE DESIRED DESTINATION! WAKE UP! - WATCH! - LISTEN! - ASK QUESTIONS! - AND YOU CAN'T MISS IT! DON'T TRUST THE GOVERNMENT!

The RUSH on everything is to keep the people from FINDING OUT what they're attempting to do. It must be FAST because the PEOPLE WON'T TOLERATE it when they become INFORMED. SO, THERE MUST NOT BE TIME FOR THE PEOPLE TO BECOME INFORMED! AN INFORMED PUBLIC RIGHT NOW IS A DANGEROUS THING FOR COMMUNIST/SOCIALIST/FASCIST AGENDAS! Our so-called representatives are voting on massive bills without even reading them or knowing what they contain. WHY? The contents of these bills would make decent, tax-paying citizens angry and ready to jerk these folks out of office.

If the people don't wake up soon and put a STOP to this, FREEDOM WILL BE A THING OF THE PAST!!

I know this isn't a popular view but this is how I feel. I've had this for 6 months now, and couldn't figure where I should put it, and figured this blog was just right for me to rant sometimes.

A Few Recipes from Sambo's

Since you can't get the mix for Sambo's pancakes, this tastes just like Sambo's pancakes. Some of the recipes from Sambo's I wrote down. And so I don't lose those recipes I'm going to publish them for anyone who reads this blog.

Sambo's Pancakes

2 eggs, separated (whites in a stainless steel or glass bowl (NEVER USE PLASTIC, NO MATTER HOW CLEAN YOU THINK IT IS IT ISN'T!), yolks in an 8-cup mixing bowl with a handle)

2 tablespoons sugar

16 ounces biscuit and baking mix (about 3 loosely spooned cups)

2 cups milk (for healthy eating; use 2/3 cup of nonfat dry milk and 2 cups of water)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Heat electric griddle or electric skillet to 375 degrees or heat a heavy skillet over medium heat while mixing batter.

Beat egg whites with a hand mixer on high speed to stiff peaks and set aside. Cream sugar and egg yolks at high speed until lemony colored (about a minute). Add milk and beat 2 more minutes on high. Add biscuit mix and vanilla extract, mix on low speed until just blended (barley-sized lumps of mix are OK). Scrape beaten egg whites into batter and gently whisk in with the mixer switched off (ditto). Let stand 5 minutes.

Pour onto heated griddle or skillet, cook about 3 minutes before turning. Cook 1 to 2 minutes on second side. Serve with real butter and hot syrup.

1000 Island Dressing

2 gallons mayonnaise
1 Gallon Sweet pickle relish
1 Gallon ketchup

or breaking it down;

2 cups of mayonnaise
1 cup sweet pickle relish
1 cup ketchup

Mix all ingredients in a stainless steel bowl, (never use plastic). Refrigerate as soon as you mix everything together this should last 2 weeks.

Ten things God won't ask you:

I decided since I'm still up................ I'd post something that God won't ask you.

Ten things God won't ask you:

1...God won't ask what kind of car you drove; He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation.

2...God won't ask the square footage of your house, He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

3...God won't ask about the clothes you had in your closet, He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.

4...God won't ask what your highest salary was, He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

5...God won't ask what your job title was, He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.

6...God won't ask how many friends you had, He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.

7...God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived, He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.

8...God won't ask about the color of your skin, He'll ask about the content of your character.

9...God won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation, He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.

10...God won't ask how many people you forwarded this to, He'll ask if you were ashamed to pass it on to your friends.

Finally I up-loaded a vid to youtube

I know it's been a while since I've posted. I did finally up load a video to youtube. It's called, Bob Gibson - Super Skiers Last Race.

Edited to add; I just removed the links, till such time they are allowed back up
I found out, Warner Music Group (WMG) claim that they aren’t being PAIDED enough money by Google for the use of the label’s content on YouTube, and have therefore requested that all of their tracks are to be pulled from the website. Talk about being cheap. Warner Music has pulled music from the bands, musicians, who made the music famous. So I guess even though they wrote their own music, they aren't allowed to publish that fact on Youtube.

Now to me, that is criminal act, and silencing the music.

I'm not sure how to post the video here. I'm sure those of you who read this will say that's bad. Well this is the first time, I've tried doing this and I hope I can do better the next time.

Sue and I went to dinner to the Branding Iron, on our 25th anniversary. Both of our children were their, Sara with her husband Anthony, and Robert. Several family friends were there as well. I do have a pix, of Sue and I there and will post it later.

I may have suffered a heart attack last night. I'll be going to the clinic, and have that checked out tomorrow at 6PM.

Take care and God Bless
Bob
